Security of your confidential information is the primary
concern - that is why you're looking for a company to handle
your document destruction.
There are five major components to document destruction:
- Cost
- Storage of sensitive material prior to destruction
- Delivery of material
- Method of destruction
- Method of disposal
Cost The off-site shredding we offer is
the most convenient, cost-effective way to securely dispose of
your documents and other paper waste. Our current customers
have already determined that we offer huge cost savings
with no compromise in security for their document destruction
needs. We are confident if you try us out you will come
to the same conclusion.
Storage of Sensitive Material Prior to
Destruction
Most times sensitive materials are at the highest risk before
we even get there. Boxes in unlocked storerooms, trash
containers under desks, unlocked file cabinets, and information
left out in the open all present risks. (We provide locking
security containers to businesses that utilize our scheduled
service.) Anytime any unauthorized person has access to company
files, whether the janitor, customers, or even employees, you
are at risk. In addition many companies and homeowners do not
have any type of security system to protect the premises
when unattended.
If you use our monthly service, we provide you with
locking bins that keep the janitor and other unauthorized
persons from getting to the things you want destroyed. When we
pick up your bins, you will always see the same individual
from our company. This person will get to know you and your
preferences and you will know who is in your place of business.
We replace your full bins with empty locked bins. The full bins
remain locked and secure until right before the contents are
destroyed.
Delivery of Material If you take
advantage of our drop-off service, delivery of material is not
an issue. If you choose to have us pick it up your
location, your documents are loaded directly from your
storage location onto our trucks. Our vehicles are unmarked and
remain locked at all times. Once loaded, your material is
transported to our plant where it is logged in, weighed, and
place in our production line for destruction.
The delivery of material is the one component of document
destruction where you may decide an on-site service is better
for your needs. However, the true level of security
is ultimately dependant on the company you select Any time
a container is opened there is a chance
the contents may be compromised. Because of this risk, we
discourage the use of consoles (which must be opened and a
bag removed) and encourage care in choosing a mobile shredding
company. (We have acquired several customers after papers
they thought had been destroyed by a mobile shredder
were discovered blowing around in the parking lot).
Method of Destruction Upon arrival at
our plant, the bins (which are still locked) are moved
into our secure shredding area. Our shredding operations
are protected at all times by our security system. We are not
open to the public and any visitors are escorted at all
times. The actual shredding work is performed
by workers who are developmentally disabled. Due to their
disabilities, they are unable to read and/or
comprehend written material or their ability to do so is
very limited, adding another layer of security to your
information.
Because we are plant based, we are able to shred documents
from different sources together. This mixing of
shred makes it very difficult for anyone to reconstruct
shredded documents. Security experts recommend this mixing of
information as part of destruction whenever possible.
Method of Disposal (How "GREEN" Do You
Want To Be?)
"Green" is becoming a huge consideration for many
companies and individuals. Plant-based operations such as
ours offer the most environmentally friendly (or "GREEN")
method of paper disposal. If the final shredded product
has too many contaminants it will make the shred unsuitable for
effective paper recycling. Being plant based, we are able to
remove contaminants (we find all kinds of plastic,
aluminum cans, fast food containers, tools, newspapers, and
other non-paper items mixed in with documents) before it goes
into our shredders. This allows the highest level of
paper recycling as well as allowing us to recycle
plastics from things like shredded floppy disks and
cd's. Mobile shredders have no way to keep shred "clean",
greatly reducing the ability to recycle shred in the best
manner possible. If environmental impact is a concern to
you, then this should be a consideration for you when
deciding whether to use on-site or off-site shredding.
All shredded material is then stored inside
our secure location until it is picked up by our
paper recycling company.
